Magnetic-coherence-length scaling in metallic multilayers.

چکیده
An improved description of the critical properties of metallic multilayers is obtained by introducing the concept of a scaled magnetic coherence length in the Takahashi-Tachiki theory. By that, the absolute magnitude of the upper critical fields and the position of the dimensional crossover are uncoupled and become independent quantities. Much better phase diagrams can be obtained by using this scaling procedure. Although this concept is inspired by the character of disagreement between the theory without scaling and experiment, the procedure lacks an external justification. The fact that it works might serve as an indication how the Takahashi-Tachiki theory has to be modified in order to give a realistic quantitative description of upper critical fields in real metallic multilayers. The theory is applied to the V/Cu, V/Ag, Nb/Cu, and Nb/Ag systems. @S0163-1829~96!06425-9#

Oscillations of the transport properties in Ni /Co superlattices
Although metallic multilayers have recently attracted much attention, especially since the discovery of giant magnetoresistance in Fe /Cr multilayers [1], only a small number of true superlattice effects have been experimentally observed. These are the appearance of superlattice Bragg peaks in X-ray diffraction [2], the collective behavior of magnons in magnetic/non-magnetic superlattices [3], ...
متن کاملNéel Walls in Low Anisotropy Symmetric Double Layers
Abstract. A new model for the study of one-dimensional walls in magnetic multilayers is presented. We obtain the optimal scaling of this energy functional for low anisotropy double layers with magnetic layers of equal thickness. We prove that he optimal scaling may be attained by opposing Néel walls. We obtain the core length of the Néel wall, and a detailed description of its structure. We ill...
متن کاملPerpendicular spin valves with ultrathin ferromagnetic layers: Magnetoelectronic circuit investigation of finite-size effects
We address two finite-size effects in perpendicular transport through multilayers of ferromagnetic and normal metal layers: i the transport properties depend on the magnetic layer thickness when of the order or thinner than the spin-flip diffusion length and ii magnetic layers with thickness approaching the magnetic coherence length become transparent for spin currents polarized perpendicular t...
متن کاملMagnetic Properties and Structural Study of Ni-Co/Cu Multilayers Prepared by Electrodeposition Method
Ni-Co/Cu multilayers have been grown by electrodeposition method from a single electrolyte (based on Ni(SO4).6H2O, Co(SO4).7H2O, Cu(SO4) and H3BO3) using galvanostatic control on titanium sublayers. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns confirmed the multilayered structure with the nanometer thicknesses. Also, electron diffraction x-ray (EDX) analysis confirmed the purity of deposited samples. ...
متن کاملOptimization of out-of-plane magnetized Co/Pt multilayers with resistive buffer layers
Ta oxide (TaOx) is investigated as a resistive buffer layer for the growth of high-quality Co/Pt multilayers with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA). The Pt/(Co/Pt)3 films grown on TaOx buffer layers exhibit stronger PMA than those grown on Pt buffer layers, and are of comparable quality to films grown on metallic Ta. The optimized multilayers with TaOx buffer layers remain out-of-plane ma...
